Data Deletion Policy
1. Your Right to Delete
Mobo Technology LLC respects your right to control your personal data. You can request the deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time, for any reason, without penalty. This right applies to all users regardless of location.
EU/EEA users also have this right enshrined under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 17 — the "right to erasure." California residents have an equivalent right under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
2. What Gets Deleted
When your account is deleted, the following personal data is permanently removed from our systems:
Account Data
- Email address
- Display name & profile photo
- Account preferences & settings
Session & Progress Data
- All voice session transcripts
- Conversation history
- CEFR scores & progress
- Session metadata
Subscription Data
- Subscription status & history
- Purchase records (our copy)
- Premium entitlement flags
Aggregated & Legal Data
- Anonymized usage statistics (not linked to you)
- Records required by law or to resolve disputes
- Crash report data (auto-purged after 90 days)
3. How to Delete Your Account In-App
The fastest way to delete your data is directly within the SpeakDaily app:
- Open the SpeakDaily app and go to your Profile tab.
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top right.
- Scroll down to Account and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted. Your account and all data will be queued for removal.
Deletion from our active Firestore database occurs immediately upon confirmation. Full removal from all backup systems is completed within 30 days.
4. Request Deletion by Email
If you cannot access the app or prefer to submit a deletion request by email, contact us at:
Please include the following in your email:
- Subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
- The email address associated with your SpeakDaily account
- Your name (as used in the app, if different)
We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request to prevent unauthorized deletions.
5. What We Cannot Delete
In limited circumstances, we may be required to retain certain data even after an account deletion request:
- Legal obligations: If we are required by law, regulation, or court order to retain specific records
- Dispute resolution: If there is an unresolved dispute, complaint, or investigation involving your account
- Fraud prevention: Minimal records needed to prevent repeat violations of our Terms of Service
- Anonymized aggregates: Statistical data that has been fully anonymized and cannot be re-linked to you
We will inform you if any of these exceptions apply to your deletion request.
6. Subscription Cancellation vs. Account Deletion
These are two separate actions:
- Cancelling your subscription stops future billing but keeps your account and data intact. Manage this through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
- Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from SpeakDaily. It does not automatically cancel a subscription — you must cancel through your app store separately to stop charges.
7. Data Held by Third Parties
Some data associated with your use of SpeakDaily is held by third-party service providers. Deleting your SpeakDaily account removes our copy of your data, but you may also wish to review the policies of:
- Google / Firebase — for any data processed through Firebase Auth or Analytics
- Apple App Store / Google Play — for purchase receipts and transaction records
We do not control third-party data and cannot action deletion requests on their behalf. Please contact those services directly if needed.
